Discord Troubleshooting
Invalid invitations
So, you tried joining the Discord community, but you've gotten an error message about the invitation being invalid or expired.

First, I'm very sorry for the trouble! This is a longstanding issue with Discord—the invitation has not expired, nor is it invalid. I've been in contact with them several times, and they have yet to provide a proper fix.
All hope is not lost, however! Everyone so far has been able to join the community by following the steps below:
Try using another invite link.
You might have more luck with one of these invitation URLs:Check for client-side issues
In some cases, the invitation fails due to some weird issue with the local browser.Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge).
Try accepting it in “incognito mode” / without any browser extensions enabled.
Try connecting through a different IP address.
For some reason, Discord appears not to like certain IP addresses. It's possible someone was banned from your IP address in the past.If you're using a VPN, try disconnecting it and trying to accept the invitation again.
If you have access to a VPN, try enabling it and trying again.
Try accepting the invitation from your mobile device, using cellular data instead of Wifi.
The good news is that once the invitation has been accepted, the IP issues seem to go away. You should be able to access the Discord community without jumping through any hoops.
Try leaving a different Discord server
Discord has a limit on the number of Discord communities you're able to participate in. If you're a regular Discord user, it's possible that you've reached this limit.Try again tomorrow
At least one student went through this entire list without success… and then it worked the next day!It might be a weird hiccup on Discord's end.
If you make it through this entire list without success, please submit a support request, being sure to include your Discord username and all pertinent details about your situation.
Additionally, please reach out to Discord directly (opens in new tab)—ultimately, it's their software, and I have far less control than they do when it comes to fixing weird issues.
Once again, I'm truly sorry about this experience. Hopefully, we'll resolve it for you quickly!
Issues with JoshBot
You've accepted the invitation, and are sitting in the #🛋-foyer
channel, but you don't see a message from Joshbot.
The most likely reason for this issue is that you've disabled Direct Messages from people not on your friends list.
If you feel comfortable with it, the quickest way to solve this problem is to temporarily change your permissions:
Re-join the server, by following the invitation link: https://discord.gg/99sDe5zDVA
You should receive a DM from Joshbot, asking you to verify your identity, and confirm that you've read the Code of Conduct.
This should only take a minute or so, and no further interactions will be required with Joshbot. Feel free to toggle DMs back off once you've been granted access to the community!
That said, I fully understand if you aren't comfortable enabling DMs, even temporarily. Instead, you can submit a support request, including your Discord username, and I'll be happy to manually grant your access. 🙂
If you haven't disabled DMs, and haven't received anything from Joshbot, it's possible that my bot is malfunctioning. Contact support and I'll do my best to welcome you as soon as possible.
